Singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Justin Myles’ passion for music and dance was fostered by family and friends who surrounded him with music and dance from a tender age.
After watching a family friend play the drums in a garage music jam, Justin became obsessed with the instrument and began expressing a desire to play. Without formal training, he took to the drums instinctively. Influenced by the likes of Carter Beaufort and Chad Sexton, he became an expressive and colorful pocket powerhouse behind the kit.
He began playing the guitar in high school while he was in his first band, Haze. Not surprising, he also showed an affinity for the instrument.
Balancing music and dance throughout his life, he self-produced two solo full-length albums, 2009’s This Genre, followed by Catching Thoughts in 2015, while touring the world with various dance productions.
As a session musician, he has performed with Anthony Russo, Tabby Spell, and Ocean King, to name a few.
In 2024, he produced, engineered and co-composed the album Here & Now for the band HydraFX, for which he was the drummer until Spring 2025.
Today, Justin performs around the DMV area with his band, Myles Deep Band, as a solo artist, and as part of the Myles Deep Duo. Myles Deep Band is a fusion of Funk and R&B where Justin adds the dance discipline of Tap used as a rhythmic instrument to their interpretations of reimagined classics.
The Myles Deep Band recently headlined the U.S. Oyster Festival in St. Mary’s County, Md.
Justin’s debut album, 2009’s self-produced and self-recorded, This Genre, is an Acoustic/Rock/Funk/R’n’B mix featuring different artist. Three quarters of the album was recorded in hotel rooms while he was touring with the theatrical off-Broadway hit STOMP.
